So — have been messing about with this thing for maybe four months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so thought I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me last week. Am UK based, mostly do football and horses, nothing mad, just so you know where I’m coming from.

What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I couldn’t ever work out what an e/w payout would be with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just wing it and then be surprised. These days I type the odds in first, every time, even a straight one-selection punt.

Their single bet calculator tool is the bit I use most — you put in your stake, the odds and it shows profit and total return with no faffing, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the multiples — trebles returns, lucky 15s, a yankee, honestly that’s where most people I know mess it up. If you fancy a poke about, it’s over at spread betting margin calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.

What actually made a difference was the geekier extras. They’ve got an implied probability converter and it makes obvious what margin’s baked in, plus a kelly criterion tool — I run quarter kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. The dutching one gets used a fair bit when I’m spreading across selections.

Not all sunshine though. The design feels a bit basic — no flash, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. Phone-wise it’s usable but the acca grid need a bit of scrolling. Also there’s nothing on the app store, just the site — fine by me just flagging it.

Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, barely any ads, does the job. If you honestly does the maths on paper, give it a go — saved me a fair few dumb bets I’d have regretted.

If you asked me to point to a recent positive sign for the open web this site would be near the top, and a stop at clyra reinforced that designation, the few sites that serve as evidence the web can still produce quality independent content are precious and this one has clearly become one for me.

So — have been messing about with this thing for maybe a few months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. Am based in the UK, generally stick to footie and the horses, a fiver here and there, for context.

What got me on it was genuinely embarrassing — I could never get my head round what an e/w payout actually came to with 1/5 odds a place. I used to just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in before every slip, even the boring singles.

Their single bet calculator is the part I use most — type in your stake, the odds and you get returns instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. Same tool covers the bigger stuff — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15s, patents and yankees, which is where most people I know mess it up. Have a go yourself, it’s here matched bonus bet calculator — free, no signup.

What actually made a difference is the geekier bits. The probability calculator which shows you the overround, plus a kelly tool — I use half kelly since full stakes are far too aggressive. Dutching calculator gets used a fair bit when I’m covering two or three runners.

It’s not perfect mind. The layout feels pretty plain — zero polish, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On mobile it’s fine though the lucky 63 breakdown need a bit of scrolling. There’s nothing on the app store, it’s a website and that’s it — doesn’t bother me just flagging it.

So yeah. Free, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. Anyone who even now does the maths on paper, give it a go — it’s saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
