So — been on this thing for about five months now and it’s basically bookmarked at this point, reckon I’d write something up since a lad on another thread asked me last week. I’m based in the UK, mostly bet football and racing, nothing mad, for context.
What got me on it was actually embarrassing — I never could get my head round what an each way return actually came to when the place terms changed. Basically I’d wing it and then be surprised. Now I punch the numbers in first, every time, even a simple single bet.
The single bet calculator tool is the part I open most — type in the price and your stake and it spits out returns straight away, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles maths, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, honestly that’s where most people I know lose track. Have a go yourself, it lives at treble bet calculator and there’s no login wall, which I appreciated.
The thing that really made a difference was the nerdier bits. The probability converter which shows you how much the bookie’s taking, and a kelly staking calculator — I use half kelly as the full version is a quick route to a dead bankroll. Dutching calculator is handy too for when I’m spreading across selections.
Couple of gripes. The design looks very functional, let’s say — no flash, looks like it was built by someone who cares more about maths than colours. On my phone it’s usable although the lucky 63 breakdown are a squeeze. And no proper app, it’s a website and that’s it — slight shame but worth saying.
Right, that’s me. Costs nowt, not plastered in adverts, does what it says. If you honestly does the maths on paper, try it — it’s saved me plenty of dumb bets I’d have regretted.
