So — have been messing about with this thing for about a few months now and it’s stuck on my phone, so thought I’d say something since a lad on another thread asked me a few days back. Am in the UK, generally do football and horses, nothing mad, so take it how you like.

The reason I started using it was actually pretty stupid — I could never figure out what an each way payout would be once you get five places instead of three. I’d just guess and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

The single bet calculator is the part I’m on daily — type in your stake, the odds and it spits out the return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn’t matter. There’s also the fiddly ones — acca and treble maths, a lucky 15, yankees, honestly that’s where I’d always got it wrong. If you fancy a poke about, it’s here match bet calc — free, no signup.

The thing that genuinely made a difference were the more serious bits. The implied probability calculator which shows you what margin’s baked in, and a kelly calculator — I stick to fractional kelly because full kelly is terrifying. The dutching one is decent if I’m spreading across selections.

Couple of gripes. The design feels a bit basic — not much polish, it’s clearly function over form. Phone-wise it’s usable though the acca grid are a squeeze. Also there’s no proper app, just the site — fine by me but worth saying.

So yeah. Doesn’t cost anything, not plastered in adverts, does the job. Anyone who honestly works out returns on a calculator app, try it — it’s saved me plenty of arguments with the bookie.

Found this through a friend who recommended it and now I see why, and a look at ForumInvestMali only strengthened that recommendation in my own mind, word of mouth still works for content that actually delivers and this site is clearly earning recommendations the old fashioned way through quality rather than marketing.

Now placing this in the small category of sites whose updates I would actually want to know about, and a stop at xelarionet confirmed that placement, the difference between sites I want to follow and sites I just consume from is real and this one has crossed into the active follow category from the casual consumption side.

Reading this confirmed something I had been suspecting about the topic, and a look at realherschel pushed that confirmation toward greater confidence, content that lines up with independently held intuitions earns a special kind of trust and I will return to writers who consistently land that way for me without overselling positions.

Now adding this to a short list of sites I would defend in a conversation about the modern web, and a look at raspinakala reinforced that defence list, the few sites that serve as evidence the web can still produce good things are precious and this one has clearly joined that small list of exemplary sites.

So — have been messing about with this thing for something like six months now and I keep coming back, reckon I’d say something since a mate asked me a few days back. Am in the UK, mainly do football and horses, small stakes, for context.

What got me on it was genuinely pretty stupid — I could never work out what an ew return actually came to once you get five places instead of three. I used to just eyeball it and get a shock. These days I stick my stake in first, every time, even a simple single bet.

Their single bet calculator tool is the bit I’m on daily — type in your stake, the odds and you get profit and total return instantly, fractions or decimals. Same tool covers the fiddly ones — trebles returns, lucky 15 and lucky 63, patents and yankees, which is where I’d always got it wrong. If you want a look, it lives at ew lucky 15 calculator and it’s free with no account nonsense.

One thing that actually changed how I bet was the geekier extras. The odds-to-probability converter which shows you the overround, and a kelly tool — I use half kelly since full stakes are terrifying. The dutch tool is handy too when I’m covering two or three runners.

It’s not perfect mind. The interface feels very functional, let’s say — no flash, which honestly I don’t mind but some will. On my phone it’s fine although the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. There’s nothing on the app store, just the site — doesn’t bother me but worth saying.

Anyway. Costs nowt, no ads shoved in your face, works. Anyone who even now works out returns on a calculator app, give it a go — saves me plenty of “wait, that’s it?” moments.
